About Eugene:

Eugene Mirman is a comedian, actor and hero who lives in Brooklyn, NY. He voices “Gene” on Fox’s Emmy Award winning animated series Bob’s Burgers. He was on Flight of the Conchords, Adult Swim’s Delocated, and has had two comedy specials on Comedy Central. His latest comedy special is available on Netflix. He is a frequent co-host of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s science show Star Talk. His fifth comedy album, I’m Sorry (You’re Welcome), being released by Sub Pop Records, will be available in multiple formats as a 9 Volume Digital Set, 7LPs, a Chair, a Robe on October 30th, 2015.

Some more bio information, if you must know:

At the age of four, Eugene escaped the clutches of Russian communism when his family immigrated to the birthplace of America: Lexington, MA. He attended Hampshire College and designed his own major of Comedy — doing a one-hour standup act as his thesis, for which he was made fun of, don’t worry — even though actually, it was quite practical.

He’s appeared on lots TV shows, including, Archer, @Midnight, Inside Amy Schumer, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Russell Howard’s Good News, Late Night with Seth Myers, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Home Movies, Bunk and more.

Eugene was named Best New York City Comedian by the Village Voice, one of “50 Funniest” by Time Out New York, and one of the 10 best comedians of the last decade by Paste Magazine. He was also named by Rolling Stone as “Hot Twitterer” and keeps his 377k+ followers entertained daily.

Along with Julie Smith Clem, Eugene co-founded Pretty Good Friends, which began as a weekly comedy show in Brooklyn, but grew into tours, large outdoor shows, and TV and radio projects. Out of these shows, Eugene and Julie also created (originally as a joke) the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, which is now a yearly institution in Brooklyn and beyond.

About Maeve:

A TV star in her native Ireland, Maeve Higgins has performed all over the world, including in Edinburgh, Melbourne and, most recently, Erbil. Now based in New York, she’s made a name for herself there too. In a good way! She co-hosts Neil deGrasse Tyson’s StarTalk on National Geographic and has appeared in Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer. Maeve hosts a live show every month with author Jon Ronson and is a frequent guest at the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival. She is writing a book of funny essays for Penguin, due for publication in late 2017.  Maeve also makes great radio and is currently hosting a podcast about immigration called ‘Maeve In America’ for First Look Media. Maeve says ‘yikes’ a lot and her favorite food is peanut butter.

Exciting News for A Happening IV: Leviathan

Cloudgaze and Eggtooth Productions are thrilled to announce that we have received a generous grant from the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice to support our 2024 Immersive Arts Festival, “A Happening IV: Leviathan.”

This festival will transform the Shea Theater into an exploration of theme, hosting installations, music, theatrical performances, and movement pieces, featuring the collective contributions of over 30 local artists. Audiences will experience otherworldly environments and narratives inspired by folklore, fairy tales, horror motifs, American literature, and the mythos of the Old Testament, all of which delve into the central question guiding the festival: "What does it mean to encounter something greater than yourself and to be consumed by it?" Through this theme, we explore how a community reemerges and imagines itself after destruction and transformation.

With the support of the Markham-Nathan Fund, we are excited to create an event that complicates perspectives and fosters meaningful dialogue. We are grateful for this partnership and for the work of the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice.

Thanks to the Mass Cultural Council for their vital support this year. We'd also like to thank the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts for their support in the form of a Flexible Funding grant. We couldn't do this work without you!
