RAISING ARIZONA (1987) - The Coen Brothers’ madcap masterpiece perfectly blends action, comedy, film noir, and screwball romance to create a hilarious & heartwarming tour de force. Unable to conceive a child of their own, Nicholas Cage & Holly Hunter star as a couple that hatches a scheme to kidnap a baby. Pursued by police, ex-cons, and a hellish bounty hunter, the resulting chaos is a barrage of one-liners, sight gags, and expertly directed set pieces. Beneath it all is a very human undercurrent of love and longing making it one of the greatest comedies of all time. Co-starring John Goodman, William Forsythe, and Frances McDormand.
RUBIN & ED (1991) - Looking for the perfect place to bury his beloved cat, Rubin (Crispin Glover at his indescribable best) finds himself on a transformational spirit quest deep in the Utah desert. When Rubin drags a disenfranchised pyramid scheme salesman along for the ride (Howard Hesseman as Ed), a surrealistic road trip ensues with both men seeking spiritual rebirth. Directed by Trent Harris, Rubin & Ed is a hilarious exploration of friendship, loss, and the absurdity of modern life. It’s also an absolute gonzo gem of underground independent cinema.
