ABOUT FRANK VIELE
Frank Viele constructs his sound beneath an acoustic funk ceiling with windows of alternative pop, folk and soul. A musical carpenter in the independent rock genre, this singer/songwriter’s approach mixes a dry wit with a soulful touch. A storytelling angle finishes out the floors of this building. Frank’s sound construction is cemented together by a solid blues foundation and his stylistically aware approach is evident in his singing and guitar playing. Working off the brick and mortar of influences ranging from Dave Matthews to Otis Redding and Ray Lamontagne to Johnny Lang, Frank delivers an authenticity showcasing a familiarity to the inspirations that came before him. Frank Viele is Acoustic funk, electrified with a shot of Pop, Rock and Soul. Add Rhythm and Blues for a Chaser.
A self-professed terrible driver, cartoon lover and blue-collar entrepreneur, Frank’s musical roots started in his hometown of Milford, Connecticut. His passion for music developed as early as the age of three, when Frank was imitating songs on his Grandmother’s piano that he heard on the television.
“Frank delivers an authenticity showcasing a familiarity to the inspirations that came before him.”
This spectrum of interests mixed with a great sense of humor and an introspective take on music, sports, food, art and life, defines a renaissance man in the truest sense of the word.
What People Are Saying
“If Dave Matthews decided to lend his merry band of musicians to Chris Daughtry and the group limited their appearances to strictly 1950s-style underground jazz clubs, the product might sound something like Neon Lights, the first official full-length album from Frank Viele & the Manhattan Project.” ~ Heather Farr / Relix Magazine
“There is no not getting your groove on to Viele’s music, dig it.” ~ Jason Sendaula / Origvation Magazine
“When Viele pulled out the Ukulele, plugged it in, began tuning it, then Peters came in, then Mirando, then there might have been divine intervention and Otis Redding whispering into Viele’s ear and sitting next to him. That’s how good they were, producing another one of those moments that sent chills down your back.” ~ Michael Brooks / The Examiner
“Whether it was listening to Viele alone on stage or the trio, there were moments that you had to stop, listen, and just say wow. Viele doesn’t disappoint. He has a certain approach to his music and keeps it real. It speaks to you in a way where you know it means something to him. When you listen to Viele, you’re listening to someone that is pouring everything he has, every time, into the memories he’s written about.” ~ Michael Brooks / The Examiner
“It’s hard not to imagine blaring songs like “Try” on the car radio with the windows down, and it’s even harder to deny the appeal of the band’s sporadic jazzy jams, such as the one found at the beginning of ‘Anticipation.’” ~ Heather Farr / Relix Magazine

Exciting News for A Happening IV: Leviathan
Cloudgaze and Eggtooth Productions are thrilled to announce that we have received a generous grant from the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice to support our 2024 Immersive Arts Festival, “A Happening IV: Leviathan.”
This festival will transform the Shea Theater into an exploration of theme, hosting installations, music, theatrical performances, and movement pieces, featuring the collective contributions of over 30 local artists. Audiences will experience otherworldly environments and narratives inspired by folklore, fairy tales, horror motifs, American literature, and the mythos of the Old Testament, all of which delve into the central question guiding the festival: "What does it mean to encounter something greater than yourself and to be consumed by it?" Through this theme, we explore how a community reemerges and imagines itself after destruction and transformation.
With the support of the Markham-Nathan Fund, we are excited to create an event that complicates perspectives and fosters meaningful dialogue. We are grateful for this partnership and for the work of the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice.
Thanks to the Mass Cultural Council for their vital support this year. We'd also like to thank the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts for their support in the form of a Flexible Funding grant. We couldn't do this work without you!
