This special edition of John Sheldon's "The Red Guitar" was just presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival  in Scotland by Serious Play Theatre Ensemble under the direction of Artistic Director Sheryl Stoodley.

Spending time as lead guitarist with Van Morrison, song writing for James Taylor, and a brush with Jimi Hendrix, John is no stranger to ups and downs of a musician’s life but he has held tenaciously to a belief in music as a fundamental life force and for him, life saver.  Hear a riff pour from John’s guitar and in a flash you are transported to another time, another place, maybe another close friendship in your life.   And now John is connecting the dots that mark the milestones in Rock n Roll music revealing the evolution of the sounds that fueled your life and underscore the beats and rhythms of today.  With split second live overdubbing and mesmerizing mastery of his red electric guitar, John can fill every inch of sonic space without letting technical skill overwhelm his love affair with music that makes it all so enticing and accessible.

John Sheldon and his red Stratocaster soulmate deconstruct the history of rock 'n' roll taking his audience on a one-man musical odyssey through the sounds and personalities of his time.  Part monologue, part comedy, and a lot of the kind of guitar playing which moved Ed Ward of National Public Radio to call John "One of the great guitarists of our time."  It's funny, poignant, and in the end a story of personal transformation.

Exciting News for A Happening IV: Leviathan

Cloudgaze and Eggtooth Productions are thrilled to announce that we have received a generous grant from the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice to support our 2024 Immersive Arts Festival, “A Happening IV: Leviathan.”

This festival will transform the Shea Theater into an exploration of theme, hosting installations, music, theatrical performances, and movement pieces, featuring the collective contributions of over 30 local artists. Audiences will experience otherworldly environments and narratives inspired by folklore, fairy tales, horror motifs, American literature, and the mythos of the Old Testament, all of which delve into the central question guiding the festival: "What does it mean to encounter something greater than yourself and to be consumed by it?" Through this theme, we explore how a community reemerges and imagines itself after destruction and transformation.

With the support of the Markham-Nathan Fund, we are excited to create an event that complicates perspectives and fosters meaningful dialogue. We are grateful for this partnership and for the work of the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice.

Thanks to the Mass Cultural Council for their vital support this year. We'd also like to thank the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts for their support in the form of a Flexible Funding grant. We couldn't do this work without you!
