Can we raise $50,000 from the community for The Shea?
TURNERS FALLS, MA
THE SHEA THEATER ARTS CENTER HOPES TO CROWDFUND
A NEW SOUND & LIGHT SYSTEM
After an astounding sold-out opening weekend of music with Red Baraat, Speedy Ortiz and Heather Maloney, and after an amazing weekend hosting Four River Charter School's production of Grease, the Shea Theater Arts Center (STAC) has launched an Indiegogo campaign in an attempt to raise $50,000 to pay for a permanent, top-tier sound and light system that would be available to all performing artists coming to The Shea.
The non-profit STAC has been working with Greenfield's Klondike Sound, one of the East Coast's premier sound companies (Green River Festival/The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival) to create a sound a light system that will resonate with the new energy and spirit at The Shea and which will resound the beauty of the lobby renovations.
Individuals and businesses have already contributed nearly $100,000 to the theater renovations, now STAC is asking the community to help in this next phase. A new sound system, mounted above the stage will allow all of The Shea's performers to take full advantage of the already amazing acoustics in The Shea Theater.
The Indiegogo campaign began on March 16th (STAC board President Monte Belmonte's birthday. A donation is what he wants for his birthday, BTW) and will last 60 days. There are incentives for donations including tickets to shows, drink tickets and name recognition in the theater's beautiful new lobby. But STAC hopes you will consider contributing because you believe that Franklin County deserves a world-class home for the arts.
Thank you in advance for supporting the arts and the Shea Theater Arts Center.

Exciting News for A Happening IV: Leviathan
Cloudgaze and Eggtooth Productions are thrilled to announce that we have received a generous grant from the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice to support our 2024 Immersive Arts Festival, “A Happening IV: Leviathan.”
This festival will transform the Shea Theater into an exploration of theme, hosting installations, music, theatrical performances, and movement pieces, featuring the collective contributions of over 30 local artists. Audiences will experience otherworldly environments and narratives inspired by folklore, fairy tales, horror motifs, American literature, and the mythos of the Old Testament, all of which delve into the central question guiding the festival: "What does it mean to encounter something greater than yourself and to be consumed by it?" Through this theme, we explore how a community reemerges and imagines itself after destruction and transformation.
With the support of the Markham-Nathan Fund, we are excited to create an event that complicates perspectives and fosters meaningful dialogue. We are grateful for this partnership and for the work of the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice.
Thanks to the Mass Cultural Council for their vital support this year. We'd also like to thank the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts for their support in the form of a Flexible Funding grant. We couldn't do this work without you!
